Neither love nor money, I obtained.
After marriage, only an irritable husband.
In-law's house is the world's only court.
Where justice delivered is always Ex parte.
Plaintiff belongs to the same bloodline.
Witness, lawyer and judge,
also of the same wine.
I am the sole accused without any defendant.
Verdict, if not obeyed,
deem me obdurate
All, except my husband, are
unseen conspirators.
Husband is only a deaf and dumb spectator.
In fact, all presume me to be a
working Naukarani(Domestic aid) .
Change my name and mockingly
call me Rani.(Short form of naukarani, mocked Queen)
Leaving the bed as early as
descends the dawn.
Start my duty to ensure breakfast and lunch preparation.
Interspersed were the tea and
coffee orders.
As many times and wishes of the honourable members.
Little bit deviation gives birth to
taunt and jeer.
Without protest, one has to
endure.
Used to have lunch after catering to all.
After a little bit sleep, there is a
wake up call.
Preparation for dinner starts
for the night.
Service schedule is really
very tight.

What a job I applied for
and join(ed)
No leave, no promotion, no salary,
no superannuation.
In my duty, I am genuine
and perfect.
But daily performance assessment report is
below the bench mark.
Had I put this much labour and sincerity elsewhere,
Comfortably I would have been
the best enterpreneur.
Oneday, therefore, I wanted to
teach them a lesson.
Cajoled my husband into moving
to a new location.
As soon as the news spread
from ear to ear.
All hearts became heavy
with anxiety and fear.
How to manage this big
house hold?
Members started to rise
early from bed.
All contributed their active participation.
Realised that the running of the
establishment is a joint concern.
Previously I used to call my husband mockingly as Jan.(Short form of jungle janwar)
Now he is supporting me,
my real Jaan(life partner) .
Before marriage, I had dreams
to tour, visit hotels, make merry.
Belated those were, but I am not
sorry.
