Hurricane Irene Poem by Marieta Maglas

Hurricane Irene

Rating: 5.0

Irene, sweetheart, your cubic sound
Devastated so many lives
And, be sure that when you're around
Nothing resists, no one survives.

Wanting to pass as a ''miss-stress''
While no one truly wanted you
And your free roaming, nonetheless,
You found your way by ''passing through.'

Your quatrains are wonderful, each line written is octosyllabic, and the end rhymes are perfect. You really pulled it off in this one; I love your word play and your personification of the recent “Hurricane Irene”, likened to an alarmingly unwanted but unstoppably destructive ''miss-stress'' (an interesting pun) . Great work! Sorry, I have not been able to come over to show my support to your works, it is due to the problems many of us are facing in this website.
