I Am A Teacher Poem by Randy McClave

I Am A Teacher

I am a teacher
Please arm me to reach him and to reach her,
Arm me, but not with a gun
But, with funding so I can help everyone.
Number 1 on my arm's list,
Arm me with a full time Psychologist.

I am a teacher
Not an unfeeling, uncaring creature,
Arm me with funding
When a new year and class I am confronting.
Arm me with crayons and books and pencils,
What I will need are the proper utensils.

I am a teacher
Sometimes, I need a preacher,
So, arm me with mandatory school counselors
For all my students both boys and girls.
Someone they need someone else to talk to,
To help them with any crisis they are going through.

I am a teacher
While in school I am their leader,
Arm and help me by funding smaller class sizes
Then less problems and confusion arises.
I want to get to know my every student,
And their families, which is very prudent.

I am a teacher
Helping and caring is my number one feature,
I want to shape and change the world by a child
Knowledge in them must be taught, learned and reviled.
Give us the tools so with a child we can succeed,
So, arm us with what we need.
