I Am Myself A Woman - Poem For International Women's Day Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

I Am Myself A Woman - Poem For International Women's Day

Women always at the apex of attention
woman always the center of affection
women always seeking love
woman always offering care
women as mothers
women as procreators
yet women always seeking gender equality.

Women always fighting for equal opportunity
women always wanting to be doctors
women always wanting to be teachers
woman want to be everything;
women want to be equal to men
women forget their menstrual cycles
women forget they bleed every month
women go thro pain and spasms every month
women yet go and sit in the offices all day long.

Women go struggle in the fields and farms
women even go and work at construction sites
women lift loads of cement and mortar on their heads
women always ever ready to help their menfolk;
women so delicate and sensitive
yet women always so dedicated and active.

Women always the helping-hand
women feel work is worship
women want to bring in extra-income for their family
women feel money is essential for better life
women forget exhaustion
women forget fatigue
yet women go to earn even until retirement.

Women home-makers
women food-makers
women coffee- makers
women - soldiers, pilots, policemen
women don't like to go fight a war at the border
yet women search for equality everywhere
women feel they deserve all kids of jobs
women feel they deserve every and any opportunity.

Women get pregnant but don't give up their jobs
women sit in their workplaces all day long
women employ women to look after their children
women the child-bearer
women the procreator of generations
women the fairer gender
but women always want to work and earn
women want equal opportunities
women forget womanhood as they grow.
