I Can Love Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

I Can Love

My love is shared,
When it is not disrespected.
Or taken for granted and neglected.

I can love.
I know it!
It's not as if I don't!

But I won't let it,
Be abused or used.
Or given as if,
When I give it it's expected.

I can love.
I know it!
It's not as if I don't!

I've said 'I Do' twice before.
And I'm prepare to say it once more...
When I know that door can be opened,
Once again.
By that special 'someone'
Who knows my love for them does not end.

There is too much of it,
I have within me to give....
Unconditionally as long as I live!

I can love.
I know it!
It's not as if I don't!
