I Didn't Know Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

I Didn't Know

I didnt know when I got it.
How important it would be for me to keep.
I didn't know when I got it.
Using it was a tool I would need.
I didn't know when I got it.
Many others didn't know it was a key.
To unlock doors and possibilities.
I didn't know this when I got it.
What it was I had and to possess.
I didn't know this when I got it.
No one else but me could bring me happiness.
I didn't know when I got it.
Today I do.
I didn't know when I got it.
No.
I didn't know when I got it.
Now I know I have no excuse.
I didn't know this when I got it.
Only I can choose to be somebody's fool.
I didn't know this when I got it.
A stooge to made remains a stooge.
I didn't know this when I got it.
But now I know.
It's my mind.
To use and not to waste anytime I find.
I didn't know when I got.
What it was.
I didn't know when I got it.
How to use it best.
I didn't know when it got it.
I thought of it as a test
I didn't know when I got it.
But nothing in my mind now do I guess what it is.
