I Do It Poem by David Harris

I Do It

I eat when I’m hungry,
drink when I’m dry.
Read when I’m lonely
and don’t want to cry.
I do many things that contradict others,
but I do want I want to
and will until I die.

I write of peace and glory,
I do that in poem, book and story.
I do it for myself
and no one else.
I do it because I want to
and no one ever forces me.
I do it because I love it
and no critic will ever stop me.
