I Expected Poem by Randy McClave

I Expected

I expected the truth
But, instead I got lies,
I wanted truthfulness
And I instead got a disguise.
I had expected love
Instead I received temptation and lust,
Only one lasts forever
And only one is truly a must.
I expected devoutness
But, instead I received cheating,
I wanted a table for two
But, then I noticed multiple seating.
I had expected on finding love
Sadly, I stopped expecting loyalty,
From her I then walked away
From a woman who can't give honesty.
