I Feel It Is You, A Urdu Ghazal By Jaan Nisar Akhtar In English Translation Poem by Ravi Kopra

I Feel It Is You, A Urdu Ghazal By Jaan Nisar Akhtar In English Translation

When I hear the soft footsteps, I feel it is you
When I see a shadow moving like a wave, I feel it is you

When gently touching a tree branch in the garden
it shyly shows its softness, I feel it is you

When a wisp of sandalwood scented breeze
touches my face, I feel it is you

When I see the shining sheet of moving stars
in the still lake, I feel it is you

When through the night a ray of light
silently sleeps with me, I feel it is you

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

It could be rendered into 'it seems as if it is you or it appears (seems) it is you etc. I considered these options but resorted to I feel it is you which is economical and sweet. Any thoughts? Thanks again.

The catch is in the phrase..lagtaa hai k tum ho..otherwise there is not anything said new. Long ago I had accompanied my father to Akhtar sahib's residence, I heard him recite this ghazal, and another that ended...pasand hai yaaro...etc.

Nice attempt, Ravi, but the catch of Urdu rendition is missing.

Thank you Ravinder for stopping by and for your comment. BTW, what is the catch of Urdu rendition?
