I Imagine That I See You Poem by Gert Strydom

I Imagine That I See You

I imagine that I see you coming in the morning mist,
doves flutter around while every untouched thing looks at you,
the earth is enthralled and rocks are speechless and you do turn my life around
as you are my darling, friend, my companion and sincere wife.

It's as if the sun gleams in your eyes when you come down rows of stairs,
your big green-brown eyes have got a soft captivating ability,
you are cordial, pretty, slender, passionate with life, enchanted and clever,
in the distance lightning-bolts come down blue-white and there are many rainbows.

You smile at me and it's as if the sun laughs with you goldenly,
the cool breeze sings a song of praise to you when it whirls and turns around you
and there is something extraordinary, wonderful and enchanting to the new day,
as if all of nature wants to cheer at you, while tree branches swing up and down,

and when I find myself again in reality you are standing right in front of me,
do stretch your arms out to draw me into your space and give me an embrace,
speechless I look for long moments at you and know it's not from memory,
that you are really here where I feel your arms around me and you are so close.
