I Just Wanted To See What I Would Write

Rating: 5.0

once a friend got upset with me
once a friend got angry with me
because I wrote poems and left them
because I wrote poems neglected left them
because I wrote poems did nothing with them

but it was all about the writing
it was all about writing poetry
I got to write the poems
writing poems was everything
I just wanted to see what I would write

joy in writing poetry
was enough for me
read me now seldom rarely never
ultimately it does not will not matter
to a mind free to write delight in poetry

Recently a friend said to me share your poems get them published. What use are they if they sit in a drawer? I suppose in some ways ways she's right. This poem sums up my feelings. I write not because I want to I write because I have to for me its all about the writing. I write in my head, In my bed, on the bus I the Muse won't leave me alone. Some may think it a curse but I think I'm truly blessed. When I read your poems they teach me such a lot this one is no exception thanks Andy

A very fine explanatory poem of why you write.
