I Listened To My Whisp'ring Heart Poem by Valerie Dohren

I listened to my whisp'ring heart
To what it had to say -
It tapped into my consciousness
And there it deemed to stay.

It told me I should fill my soul
With everything that's good -
To see the beauty in this world
And then I understood.

I somehow knew the message that
My whisp'ring heart conveyed -
For everything that's bad there's good
That's how the world is made.

For every tear there'll be a smile
For all that's dark, there's light -
And every day is followed by
A black and sombre night.

There'll always be a Summertime
With Autumn in its wake -
And everything we think we need
We likely will forsake.

With every death there'll be a birth
The tides will ebb and flow -
And all that ever comes to us
Eventually will go.

For nothing ever stays the same
As time moves on and on -
And turning as it ever does
One day, all will be gone.
