I Looked! I Liked! I Loved! Poem by Denis Martindale

I Looked! I Liked! I Loved!

When I first saw her beauty, I was, of course, impressed,
It was like I had a duty to think she was the best.
And that perception set the path to learn her name and more,
To make her smile and make her laugh, some friendship to explore.
So more time passed as dates increased, in restaurants and such,
And even picnics made her pleased and helped us stay in touch.
Then one night came, not to be missed, that settled everything,
Within the moments that we kissed with all love's joys to bring.
And pretty soon, now hand-in-hand, we walked and talked again,
With so much more to understand since those first moments then.
So I proposed! And she said yes! And so, we married soon,
We left the Church with happiness, before our honeymoon.

And pretty soon, my pregnant wife had nine months left to wait,
To grant us both a brand new life that we could celebrate.
And that young boy astounded us! He was both smart and kind,
Though sometimes he confounded us with facts he liked to find.
His eyes stayed fixed on study books, without a single friend,
And when girls gave him lovelorn looks, he didn't comprehend.
But, thankfully, his teenage years at last gave him a clue,
To overcome a thousand fears if he should say, 'I DO.'
He married someone wonderful, as if he'd won first prize!
To me, it was adorable to see love in their eyes!
I celebrated what they had, each heart by love beguiled!
And today, I am a Granddad, a Grandpa to their child!

Here is a love poem by the Poemhunter poet Denis Martindale. The title is 'I LOOKED! I LIKED! I LOVED! The love poem portrays the truth about guys falling in love. There are some incredible, wonderful and beautiful ladies on this planet! And some guys find that special one known universally as 'THE ONE'. This is the one they will choose to marry! And sometimes the marriage is blessed with children or just a single child. In this poem, the gentleman gets married and becomes a father, and he worries about his bookworm boy! Is that boy ever going to fall in love? Is that boy ever going to get married? Is that boy ever going to become a father? Only time will tell! And to the gentleman's delight, his prayers come true, because one day that boy is no longer a boy, and he follows in his father's footsteps the day he could proclaim to the whole world, like many a romantic guy, 'I LOOKED! I LIKED! I LOVED! '
