I'm Gonna Hold The Line Poem by Paul Amrod

I'm Gonna Hold The Line

Rating: 5.0

I shift up, on the highway put my foot on the floor.
Time has, got to slow down I put a lock onto my door.
And up, out with the sun I got to get some work done.
Blown through, gone with the wind I wonder what Miss Scarlet says.
Down and out, duck on the ground before I start to ask and guess.

Push it through, don't matter what comes let's finish off with a boom.
Looking free, up in the sky, I see a witch upon her broom.
And I got caught in a chain soon is gonna start to rain.
The low will grow, out of control into a giant cyclone.
And then it comes as squalling snows and chills you right unto your bone.

I'M GONNA HOLD THE LINE
I'M GONNA HOLD THE LINE
I'M GONNA HOLD THE LINE higher than a kite, higher than a kite!

And my mind, will start to scream I can't take this hypocrisy.
Killing off, all of my dreams and they call it a democracy.
We're not even, supposed to complain if you do then you're insane.
Now it's time, for us to decide now it's time to do or die.
Just you watch, I'll take a ride, soar it up, take wing and fly.

I'M GONNA HOLD THE LINE
I'M GONNA HOLD THE LINE
I'M GONNA HOLD THE LINE higher than a kite, higher than a kite!

Softly, whisper, you don't except the lie.
We search for the truth on this you can rely.
We've arrived on the Earth it's ours upon our birth.
It's our basic right standing for our freedom!
Ain't no institution to keep me from my kingdom!
Help us Lord, help us cope, so that we don't lose our hope.
And to rise up higher until we see the light divine.
Rise up higher. Put us all along the line,
higher than a kite.

I'M GONNA HOLD THE LINE
I'M GONNA HOLD THE LINE
I'M GONNA HOLD THE LINE higher than a kite, higher than a kite!
I'M GONNA HOLD THE LINE
I'M GONNA HOLD THE LINE
I'M GONNA HOLD THE LINE higher than a kite, higher than a kite! !

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is a protest poem I wrote over 20 years ago and I decided to resurrect it.
It is reminiscent of my earlier statements as a full-fledged hippy.
What is interesting times have simply come to a stand still
and Bob Dylan's poetry from the sixties still fits the situation at hand.
