I'm Not Ashamed, Are You Poem by Randy McClave

I'm Not Ashamed, Are You

Rating: 5.0

She smoked, and she drank
In the closet she even smoked pot,
Women had called her a skank
She had cheated and she was caught.
Of those habits of course I had none
I never did smoke or drank or even curse,
I didn't know those demons, was my pun
To her I would then recite a caring biblical verse.
I gave her all that she wanted
I gave her all the things that she needed,
In my soul and thoughts she always haunted
No needs of hers were ever unheeded.
To her family and friends I was unknown
As she held tightly unto my arm,
I was not ever bragged about or ever shown
But, I would always protect her from harm.
Whenever her friends were near
She would quickly runaway and leave my side,
To her family and friends I had to disappear,
Then me, she would always ignore and hide.
She once had trouble with the law
Compassion for her everyone did lack,
But, a good soul and my love in her I saw
I swore that I would always have her back.
We once saw my family up ahead
She then asked me what I was going to do,
Then holding her hand with honor and pride I said;
"I'm not ashamed, are you"?

But, I would always protect her from harm. She once had trouble with the law But, a good soul and my love in her I saw.... /.... A good Samaritan is always guided by his or her righteousness and selfless spirit. Thanks a lot for sharing this inspiring poem.
