I'm Not Afraid Poem by Randy McClave

I'm Not Afraid

I'm afraid of no man
Because fighting them I easily can,
And the many fights that I have fought
Never once was I ever shot.
And if anyone ever wants to fight
I am ready anytime day or even night,
We can fight with our words or with our fists
When a fight by a challenger truly insists.
If anyone ever calls me out
I'll be ready to have our bout,
Afterwards we might be black and blue and maybe even red
But, I don't want either of us shot or dead.
A man doesn't need to always carry a weapon
Of every hour, minute or second,
And if he carry's a gun or rifle all of the time
Then he is indeed looking or wanting to commit a crime.
I have no guns inside of my house
I don't need one to protect my children or my spouse,
And I don't need one when I walk up and down the street
I'm never afraid of the people that I might meet.
Those who carry a gun are always scared
They are cowards the brave have declared,
They are always looking for a reason to kill
And they are the ones who torture animals for a thrill.
Hunters carry rifles always for a reason
But, only when it is hunting season,
But, those hunters who carry guns in schools or in a mall
They want to murder everyone one and all.
Carrying a gun never makes any man proud or brave
Unto cowardliness he will then become it's slave,
Gloves and bandages and backbone are given to men
And mightier is always the fist and the pen.
Now sadly our children are now all carrying guns
As to prove to their friends that they are all someone's,
But, like the Devil they are ready and prepared to murder
They are nothing like the passive sheepherder.
Some people want to take the law into their own hand
In the spotlight of stardom they want to stand,
They're not afraid or care to take a human life
As long as it's with a gun or a rifle and not close-up with a knife.
For respect to be ever received and then won
A man needs not to ever carry a gun,
And remember it just takes that one yellow belly coward
To shoot anyone in the back, like an unarmed Mr. Howard.
