I read a poem with a hidden note
That tickled my ear with a lovely sound
And like sea breeze it rocked my boat
While I was standing upon the ground
I read a poem with a hidden note
A melody so sweet that the angels honed
And though I was in a land of mote
It made me like a king upon a throne
I read a poem with a hidden note
The last thing left on my wall in the storm
O thankful am I for the words she wrote
In the turmoil, they gave utter calm
I read a poem with a hidden note
Written in youth by a childhood friend
And reading it I wondered if this young poet
Knew one day he’d make me feel young again.
