I Saw God Poem by Leslie Alexis

I Saw God

In eyes as clear as the air I breathe, I saw God.
I removed all the years and the cataract of life, and I saw God

I saw God in the father that stayed.
I saw God in the mother at prayer, believing in the invisible.
I saw God behind closed doors.
I saw God remove doors.
I saw God in a Green card,
that gave journey from nothing,
to infinite possibilities.

I saw God in the artistes who are blessed with skill
and chooses to do God's will
Instead of paying the bill-
Through his art forms are glazed,
He does God's will.

I saw God in the guy who loved the girl
with a passion that could set snow on fire:
and yet, before the marriage, beyond and below the lips
HE DID NOT GO.
I saw God in the man who risk his life for a friend.
I saw God in the man who gave his life for a stranger.
I saw God in the friend that forgave.
I saw God in the water, and I saw God in the trees -
I saw God in the way they relate to each other.
I saw God in the purity of babies (they just came from him)
I saw God in spontaneity, even so,
I refuse to believe that I spontaneously came to be.

I saw God in fear
I saw God in laughter
I saw God in joy
I saw God in sorrow

I looked up and I saw God in the sky.
I looked down and I saw God on the Ground.
I looked to my side and I saw God in familiar faces...
