I Smell The Rain Poem by Barry Middleton

I Smell The Rain

Rating: 5.0

I smell the rain again
for everything in nature
gives a warning

when change comes
the weathervane spins
before the torrent

when love ends
the air grows cold and gray
before the tears

for everything in nature
gives a warning
I smell the rain again

Beautiful poem, nothing rings more true, than your line...for everything in nature gives a warning. I love watching the ants, I know when they start coming into my kitchen in a little line carrying their eggs above their heads that it's going to rain...they just know, so they head for higher ground which just happens to be my kitchen.
