I Thought I Was Worth It But I'm Worthless Poem by Sandiso Mhlanga

I Thought I Was Worth It But I'm Worthless

I thought I was worth it,
A precious gem in a sea of stones,
But now I see the truth,
And I am left alone.

My confidence was high,
My spirit full of fire,
But the world had other plans,
And my worth became a liar.

I tried to hold my head up,
To face the world with pride,
But the weight of my worthlessness,
Crushed me from the inside.

I thought I was worth it,
But the mirror shows me lies,
A worthless, broken vessel,
That no one wants to prize.

So I must start anew,
And find my worth again,
To pick myself up from the dust,
And begin to live again.

For though I may be broken,
And worthless in my eyes,
I know that deep within me,
A spark of worth still lies.
