I Was Born Poem by Randy McClave

I Was Born

I walked upon the stage
Holding onto a single page,
Knowing not what to say
Or how I was going to portray.
I wasn't at all scared or weak
As I began to move and speak,
The world was finally in front of me
My audience, I could see.
I was prepared for this one role
It had already enriched my very soul,
I was finally ready to render
To life, beauty and the world's splendor.
For months I was being prepared
My coaching and my practice will now be declared,
Now unto the world I will be heard
I am no longer the caged, covered bird.
I then thanked my parents both
As I was to them a promise and a oath,
Then I finally began to perform
I was born.
