I Was Deceived Poem by ANJANDEV ROY

I Was Deceived

Rating: 5.0

That night
I was deep asleep,
Suddenly someone whispered to me,
"Wake up,
Poetry is waiting for thee, "
Being extremely delighted,
I woke up immediately,
Then I found poetry everywhere,
But without beauty,
I was completely deceived.

You have a valid point there. There was a time when poetry used to be confined to kings and queens, there heroics and romances, conspiracies and betrayals in ruling clans. But, now poetry reflects bitter realities in the life of a common man, his struggles, hopes and aspirations as well as the erosion of social and cultural values which rightly qualifies these words: Then I found poetry everywhere, But without beauty, I was completely deceived.
