'' I Was Honest And True '' Poem by Bri Mar

'' I Was Honest And True ''

I'm feeling distraught,
I've finally been caught,
They're saying I've been outwitted,
Without a thought,
I'm going to be shot,
What crime is it I've committed?

It can't be denied,
I've never lied,
So why are they punishing me,
Nobody's died,
That's been certified,
What is it that I cannot see.

I never would steal,
Nor would I conceal,
Any crime committed by others,
The way I feel,
Yes, it is real,
I'd inform on my sisters and brothers.

In my defence,
I'm not feeling tense,
Innocence is what keeps me strong,
Are they really that dense,
They're using pretence,
To prove that I've done wrong.

The jury is out,
I'm left in no doubt,
What I did was a heinous crime,
Up comes the shout,
The law you did flout,
For your act, you will now do time.

The judge in a rage,
Says, in this day and age,
For your acts you'll get what you're due,
The offence I can't gauge,
Your hanging I'll stage,
My crime?
