I Was Touched Poem by Randy McClave

I Was Touched

God breathed into my lungs to live
Then he touched my hands to give,
He then touched my soul to help and care
And then he touched my lips, and I said a prayer.
He touched my legs for me to carry
And he touched my feet so never to tarry
Then he touched my eyes for me to see
And to help bring people comfort and glee.
Then he touched my back
So, from sweat and work I would not lack,
Then he softly touched my mind
So, unto others I would be grateful and kind.
Then God he touched my ears
So, that I could hear other people's fears,
Then at last he touched my heart
Then from indifference and worries I did depart.
God breathed into my lungs
Then he whispered to me in many tongues
Never by hate, bigotry or racism will I be clutched
Because by God, I was touched.
