If I Tell You Not To Go Poem by Rani Turton

If I Tell You Not To Go

If I tell you not to go
Will the drumming of this heart cease
If I feel the warmth of your hands
I will only want much more

Dawn, pale and silent
Will sprinkle the windowpane with light
The city will awake
And it will no longer be
Dark night

If I tell you not to go
Will this story finally end
Will confession of emotion
Bring about a conclusion
Or will will I continue to pretend

That life continues anyway
That dawn gives way to day
And day just fades away

Just fades away,
If I asked you not to go
