If It Isn't What It Is Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

If It Isn't What It Is

If it isn't what it is.
To appear accepted.
But heard to reject not to want.
Perhaps it had always been in the atmosphere.
Flaunted around those undaunted.
Feeling powerless to remove,
What for them was not approved.

But if it isn't what is wished.
And what is wanted does not exist.
Why is it that many remain,
Complaining about a need for change.
But allow to condone what they don't want,
To be what it is.
And then sit with expectations,
Hoping what they really want...
Will happen to have it done.
By someone making the effort.
With initiative to endeavor.
While choosing wishing less to do.
That has proven to be,
Not too effective.
Under the circumstances,
Those wishes for them are used.

If it isn't what it is.
To be identified as that.
Then where is that which is wanted.
To know it for what it is.
Without it to be wished.
