If Only You Would Answer Me Poem by Chiffon Ruffles

If Only You Would Answer Me

Rating: 5.0

In the night I call your name
The echo is always the same
I hear my voice but never yours
Blowing on the lonesome winds
If only you would answer me
You would make my life complete
But you never do so I cry alone
Here in the darkness of my room

Simple but effective, and the words bring up the image of an echo in an empty room. Well done.

Though a brief poem, it is one which conveys the message of loneliness very well, Chiffon. Many of us in love with someone have spent lonely nites, separated from that loved one by distance or fate, and the feeling of one's heart aching in the silence is quite palpable. The only remedy for it is patience and the hope for a blissfull reunion with that lover in the not too distant future, even though that loneliness can be overpowering at times. Thank you for this beautiful and touching poem. Carl.

A sad but well-written poem. Good Job Chiffon.
