If You Want To Fall In Love Poem by Mark Heathcote

If You Want To Fall In Love

Sobriety is a sin if you want to fall in love
First of all, you must get hopelessly drunk
Fall into the arms of your elusive lover
Without any sensibility, you must fall
And fall ever deeper; there is no questioning
The extent, the cost or even the longevity,
All you need to know is at some distant point
you'll become hopelessly, as they say, well-oiled,
drunk on love - proof one hundred per cent.
