Illusion Poem by gershon hepner

Illusion

No optical illusion, two
blue eyes are what I love in you;
your eyes alone provide transfusion
to my own sight, without illusion.
The same to your sweet voice applies;
it binds me to you like your eyes;
from the moment we first courted
it has never been distorted.

I see no stars at daytime, moon
is quite invisible at noon.
The same applies to you, sweetheart;
all other girls are off the chart
when you’re around; your eyes alone
bind me, and there’s no other tone
that’s audible above your voice,
your eyes and voice my only choice.

Inspired by Frank Sinatra’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”:

My love must be a kind of blind love
I can’t see anyone but you
And dear, I wonder if you find love
An optical illusion, too?

Are the stars out tonight?
I don’t know if its cloudy or bright
cause I only have eyes for you, dear
The moon may be high
But I can’t see a thing in the sky
cause I only have eyes for you.

I don’t know if were in a garden
Or on a crowded avenue
You are here, so am I
Maybe millions of people go by
But they all disappear from view
And I only have eyes for you
