Illusions Poem by Paul Sebastian

Illusions

Feeling cheated
Lost and deluded
Feeling all over, so lame
I struggle to rid this pain
Searing within my heart…
Unable to tear myself apart
From the reign of my heart;
That relationship: so called
Has now turned so cold
My heart rends in pain
Bound to this illusory chain
Crying to be free again…
Oh, what a fool I have been!
To follow my heart’s leading!

When the puffy clouds cleared
The sky of truth was revealed:
It was only an illusion!
Imagination played on my emotions…
Oh, was all my creation, my doing!
I struggled uprooting and undoing
Lady Wisdom did my awakening;
Realization brought a new morning

Lord, help me, see me through this,
I prayed!
His word assured:
“If I should walk in the valley of darkness
No evil would I fear
For you are there with your crook and your staff
And with these you give me comfort.”
Blessed assurance:
My faith held to that.

At times we are deluded by illusions.... But when we realize the reality, we feel so relieved. Beautiful poem!
