Imagining Home Poem by Sonny Rainshine

Imagining Home

Into the open window,
the perfume of ripening pears
meanders through the room
like softly whispered prayers.

On the cherry sideboard
cooling is a rhubarb pie
covered with a linen cloth
the colors of the sky.

Cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg
sprinkled on piping toast,
and in the oven sizzling
waits a plump and juicy roast.

This is home,
whether in Massachusetts, Maine, or in the mind.
Home is where good things wait—
the delicious, domestic kind.

hmmm you trigger such apple pie memories sonny, good write, good ideas, i particularly liked the 'cherry sideboard.. ' so even the furniture sounds edible. Nice work. Shaun.
