Immortal Poem by Maya Hanson

Immortal

I don't think I have time
to love or hate you
but for some reason this body thinks I'm immortal.

I don't want to be dramatic
I don't want to be like you
breezing into every room like something everybody wants

I don't think I have time
to linger here,
to love and hate you
I'll just pass you like the background

But the world is so lonely like that-
maybe,
for you,
I could be immortal.
