Imprints Poem by Phil Soar

Imprints

My soles left imprints as I trod on autumn leaves
My heart was lifted by the feeling of the ground
This time of year is like no other season
I love the feeling, for that very reason

My breath was like a smokescreen from my mouth
The cold making it seem like I was smoking
The scene I set was very thought provoking
I revel in the way it makes me feel

The sound of crunching leaves as I walked on
The chillness of the ground that I trod on
The photographic scenes logged in my mind
Recalled when I feel down, from time to time

A favourite walk, in woods so close to home
Walking with the dogs, and yet, alone
I love the morning frost and the chill air
How wonderful I feel at home right there
