In And Out Poem by Thomas Plotz

In And Out

More than one -
More than one, I was in and out
Here then gone, all along, as a
Yo-yo
Pulled back in service,
Or simply swapped, because of this or that
Sometimes, from spousal pregnancy
Because the child wouldn't look like me
Even though, I would Love that child and all my kids
Still, easier on the family unit, if they looked the same
Belong the same, smile the same,
I saw an X today, not knowing their First name,
Heard it now, and still don't know their last
Their New Last Name
Unsure of my past, and our home where we slept together,
Sharing a bed, our life in sheets
They ask how I was, I said, OK
But that's not true
Just getting by,
As my memories
Fades, grayer by the day,
Grayer by the day

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
For all who have lost me.I sometimes come back into your life, but in a different roll, than the first time we met.Because I forgot my past. Till it slowly builds again.
