In Flight: 11july 08 Poem by RAJ NANDY

In Flight: 11july 08

IN FLIGHT: 11 JUL 08

I saw the blue empyrean embracing the
entire sky,
Where cotton fluffy clouds holding hands
kept passing by!
The blue horizon merged with darkening
grey shades;
Looking out of the little window seat, -
I saw the aircraft's gleaming wing spread!
The drone of the jet engines filled my ears;
I was crusing closer to God without any fears!
The dazzling sun suddenly emerged, showing
its face on the right,
As passangers quickly pulled down their window
blinds.
The airhostess started to serve breakfast on
trolley trays,
While I contemplated on God's mysterious
ways!
Here I was going to look up my bedridden
father-in-law of eighty five,
Leaving behind my family and an anxious
wife!
For one day I shall surely take that final flight, -
When with the Lord my soul shall unite!
