In Praise Of The Wise Poem by Hime Hiroda

In Praise Of The Wise

Admired are the meek
Protected are the innocent
Blessed are the naive
Praised are the silent.

What of the aware?
What becomes of those burdened by cares
What of those who dared
To be scorned for their knowledge laid bare?

Rejected for rebelling
Against a society unthinking
Fighting for and protecting
The way of the will and right living.

Shouldn't society rightfully praise
Those who dare absorb lore's stinging rays
And leaves of laurel on their brows be placed
For desiring ignorance be rid in their race?
