After the waves subside and the pretty winds die
In the aftermath of the storm
When you look at the rubble and wonder if you should smile or cry
After the skies clear and our eyes dry
And the grounds harden and your heart softens?
After the tears subside and my pretty wings dry
After all the years I've tried to get by
After I finally learn to really smile
And my eyes see the tears its cried for all along
And the sorrow for the years isn't quite as strong
As the love of something or someone I hold onto
After all the pills wear off and we stop hurting ourselves
When we reach inside our hearts and find room for each other
When we finally stop looking at the walls
And see the open doorway
When I finally look in the mirror at my eyes and I see the truth
