In The Corner Of The Void Poem by Mohammad Younus

In The Corner Of The Void

In the corner of the void,
there is no one to guide,
Neither path nor light to stride.
What did the soul that existed in the void do?
How did it carve the path that led it
out of the void?
It was in the state of Ámā—
Veiled from the Divine presence,
Tears of sorrow flowing—
Scattered like pearls on sacred soil,
Caught in the breath of longing for presence.
It spoke to itself in soliloquy,
As if gazing into the divine's eyes,
Thinking of no loss, nor profit—
Being at the break-even point.
It felt no weight of separation.
In its soliloquy,
It saw no place without the divine presence,
It always felt connected to the whole.

Soliloquy of the Soul:
'What is this emptiness? Where am I, if not with Him? I know no other but Him—was I once apart? How could I have been so far, yet not lost? The void speaks to me, yet it is but silence. I ache for His embrace, yet He is ever with me, even in this forgotten state. Am I not He, and He not me? When will I awaken from this dream of separation? '

What was the secret in this sacred soliloquy?
Who was there before its eyes?
Was it itself speaking to its true self?
A day came when nothing remained in its mind as 'other, '
The past belief of duality became meaningless.
And that dualist, the wanderer,
Vanished completely.

Its tale began anew—
Empty of all images, ideas, and illusions.
It was not lost; it had found itself,
Lost only in the vision of Oneness, the absolute unity.
The road was clear, without mist or fog,
Its mind wandered nowhere.

It found the meaning of life.
It found it filled the whole of space and time.
In the light of this vision, it knew
The truth was there,
But it could not express it in words at all.
