In The Offing Poem by Reagan Loberternos

In The Offing

Rating: 5.0

In your eyes I read strange things,
But your lips deny they're true.
I know this waiting will drive me crazy
For I've always longed to be needed by you.

This longing is but a club, beating, pounding my heart.
It eats me up till nothing's left, but love.

Some may have lived their whole lives and fail
For they have spent it without seeing perfection.
I lived mine, and I am still young.
Yet, by now, I've already been enchanted by your spell.

You are the poem I'll never write
For you can never be portrayed not even with the stillness of the night.
'Love reasons without reason.'
This I must hold on against the worldly threats of change and deception.

I shall charm the interval that hovers between now and that sweet time of blessing.
For no matter where the years may lead us,
I'll always be there. Hanging on... in the offing.

Now I realise you were relating to a woman in the previous poem I read and not Christ.
