In Unconscious Set Beliefs Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

In Unconscious Set Beliefs

Disparities.
Perceived to be,
Selectively limited.
And isolated to keep,
Within boundaries of...
Disadvantaged communities.
Should quickly awaken,
Those preferring to remain...
Comforted and sheltered,
In unconscious set beliefs.
Doing this to think of themselves,
To be fortunately out of reach.
From the ones to them who made promises,
They will keep their lieing deceiving hands...
To themselves.
But legally they may have a change of heart,
If cash carried in their own pockets...
Begin to dwindle.
Giving them the authority,
To pick the pockets of others.
Regardless of promises made.
Everyone these days,
Should have suspected to hear it said...
Promises made have no more weight than lint!

"But you promised you would represent,
Our interests."

-So correct you are.
And 'our' interests to serve,
We are here from you to collect and meet.-

"What about us?
You'd be leaving us to live with disparities."

-You misunderstood.
You will be left to live with disparities.
This is not an 'us' thing.
This is between you and the others to discuss.
This...
Is not about 'us'.
Pay up! -

"You,
Are a deceiver."

-And you...
Took your sweet time,
To finally become a believer.
Congratulations! -
