Insensitive Poem by Ezekiel Igbodo

Insensitive

Rating: 5.0

INSENSITIVE
How can I laugh in a world where many are crying
And smile in the midst of so many tears
How can I be comforted when
Fear drops like rainfall
And be consoled when my heart is
drenched by heats of people's agonies

Array of my enthusiasm soured
by happenings around me
Seas of voices yelling ' are you God'?
Am not God but why am I here?
We aren't here just to stay and watch
There is more to it and more to do like the longest prowl on a hill top

Why have men become so insensitive
To the plights of fellow men
Living in a world where pets are fed fat while children starved to death
A place where pooch are cared for but humans are abandoned

Why is values on human lives become less treasured like a faded dream of an orphan child
My ears made heavy with screaming of zillion cries
Effects of famine pummelling unfed stomachs

While we the rest of humanity Stroll on and pretend can't seems to see need to help these helpless souls
But cuddles in our nests of comfort like weaver birds

Dreaming for a Paradise we refuse to create
And Wishing for a perfect world our actions obliterate
Why have we become so obsessed with self like the siamese twins
And suddenly become insensitive like a sedated limb

Why has souls become insensitive to souls like a frozen faggot
Like a detached umbilical cord of an over riped fetus
Bisecting a mother from a child
Why aren't we care anymore like a dead gamete

Why have we become so drowned
in the oceans of fast moving tide of insensitivity.
Why are we insensitive
