I don't know what name to write with anymore
seems like each one is just like the one before
What does it matter, it's not the name that types
it's the person who writes.
Your poem is a good one because it depicts our experience of grappling for an adequate understanding and acceptance of ourselves as persons. All of us have that experience. It’s seems more traumatic for some than for others. It helps if we have the right help from others. I agree that it is the person who writes is the important one, but I must add that names are important too because they can play the role of expectation or define a person in a certain way; ex., nicknames. In the past some people had their names changed when they were given new responsibilities. The expectations were different and the person tried to live up to them. Don’t young people eventually give up the name they used when a child, which no longer fits their understanding of themselves? Don’t women, for better or for worse, adopt new names? A person writing his or her name is more significant than typing it because, to some extent, a person’s character traits are readable in the way they write but not in the way they type. Writing can be considered as part of body language which some people are better at reading than others.
