Interview Poem by Kevin Patrick

Interview

Rating: 5.0

"Let us review" said the interviewer
with neat triteness and mirrored politeness
and snared smirks, like fine executioners
"I'll summarize the position for likeness

"We require people with compassion
Intelligence and fine moral backbone
Strong ethics and rational dispassion
A leader looked to as a true corner stone

Your colleagues need an atmosphere of trust
Someone who responds well in a crisis
and our clients require someone robust
Not a milquetoast who's always indecisive

However, it shows, you're a cowering worm
a yeast infecting the cream of the crop
you only ever thinks in the shortest of terms
A backstabber working to climb the top

You're a petulant, idiot sycophant
Cowardly cruel, with an iron rule bent
at best a, professional dilettante
at Worse, pathetically incompetent

You will gladly kiss whose ass is in charge
while pissing on those beneath your butt
your coworkers should be on their guard
when they want to stab you, right in your gut

(but how could they when you have none?)

Of course there's more If I want to go on
your perfect material for a lynch mob"
and Then they get up with a hand drawn
"I can reasonably say you're the man for the job"

I can't agree more. There is so much ho-hum in corporate world and the wisdom of the so-called experts. I can vouch for it, for, I have changed quite a few jobs, and also within a company. A good satire as someone said. And I agree.

So true, Kevin. There is serious social commentary in this verse, but I couldn't help laughing. Too many times I've been in environments in which the least competent yet the most confident seem to find themselves in power and authority. They say cream floats. I think it tends to get submerged by the other stuff that floats. This one- to myfavourites!

The interaction during interview between an applicant and employer boss you have nicely noticed and the concept interestingly you have presented here. If a person wants to get a job, he needs to answer everything in a logical reasoning manner...10

This is sheer satire! The candidates usually face such situations and such snide remarks from the members of the interview panel! They never bother to think how their cynicism would endanger the self respect of the ones thus interviewed. However ideals will be preached on one side and nepotism and corruption on the other side will rule the office. A brilliant piece of satire!

Interviewer said for the review. The position for for likeness is summarized. Then they get up with a hand drawn for a fit job. An amazing poem is very brilliantly penned with great texture and responsibility. This is an excellent sharing done. Thank you very much.10
