Is It Real? Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Is It Real?

As warm as a day of sunshine, your love fills my soul
with happy greetings.

Turning somersaults inside my head, doubting, slightly,
your love - can it be real? Can it be?

Thanking God for love which is sincere, stepping over
the line to drink it in deeply for the rest of my life.

This Love Poem takes on a very different strategy than most - instead of praising the beloved and singling out attributes that are appreciated, it looks at the state of being in love, an overview of love instead of a close-up. But when certainty comes into the speaker, it comes whole, with convincing force, and then there is an outward energy that propels the poem to its conclusion.Just above your poem was an advertisement about 10,000 Asian Beauties etc. and I can't imagine anything in greater contrast to the sincerity of your poem than this false-hearted selling of the flesh. Thank God for the truth of poetry!
