Island Universe Poem by Harley White

Island Universe

An island universe it seems
well-suited for a land of dreams
except this world galactic lies
in Canes Venatici skies
called Hunting Dogs in English themes.

Still nonetheless the region teems
with bright young stellars in regimes
that form into its astral guise,
an island universe.

The site peculiar-shaped one deems,
that is, stargazers with their schemes,
could be from outward pressure ties,
so goes the prevalent surmise—
in issue for poetic themes,
an island universe.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The poem is in the form of a rondeau. Starburst galaxy Messier 94… Starburst Galaxy Messier 94 (APOD: 2025 Mar 06) Image Credit: ESA/Hubble and NASA... Explanation: This image shows the galaxy Messier 94, which lies in the small northern constellation of the Hunting Dogs, about 16 million light-years away. Within the bright ring around Messier 94 new stars are forming at a high rate and many young, bright stars are present within it - thanks to this, this feature is called a starburst ring. The cause of this peculiarly shaped star-forming region is likely a pressure wave going outwards from the galactic center, compressing the gas and dust in the outer region. The compression of material means the gas starts to collapse into denser clouds. Inside these dense clouds, gravity pulls the gas and dust together until temperature and pressure are high enough for stars to be born. Credit: ESA/Hubble & NASA
