I can feel sails
With my breath swelling behind
The destination has disappeared
The ship stays still
You groaned as rocks clashed
I heard it as sweet song
Admired my hull
Spoke of strength where
Inside I felt wood rot
Thought it funny that a ship
Made to sail and see
Though you liked the character
Of a grounded ship
I whispered to you of your beaches
Of softest sand and
Gorgeous cliff-face
Waters filled with life
Life given so freely to
A sailor lost with no home
You let yourself be mine briefly
I've never seen an island float
Tears come as you drift
For a tree you let me take shade in
For the soil that I brought your ferns
Accepted, and felt warmth from
The earth given will be eaten away
And all you'll have from me is memory
I'll stay with my anchor dropped
Wind pushing me toward you
Watching you float on
