Issues Sought To Erase Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Issues Sought To Erase

Admittedly.
We all become reflections.
Of our thoughts.
And...
The teaching of lessons taught.
That begin within,
Those environments...
We were born to live in.

Several issues to face them.
As we travel at times alone,
Beyond our limited to protect...
Comfort zones.
Most of us discover,
Sooner or later...
Conflicts.
With those beliefs,
Taught to us to teach.
And challenging problems,
Come uninvited.
Contradicting.
As if purposely to offend,
An erasing of a greatness.
A greatness to have achieved,
Isolated.
With kept beliefs,
Taught to us to teach.
In comfort zones.
Divided in separate to respect,
Yet from different realities.

Truth?
To accept,
Becomes more a threat.
For those introduced to it.
And refusing it to accept.
Truth to not know,
How effective it is...
Scares many,
Who never knew of it.
Or its existence to associate,
With a greatness...
To them sought to teach,
As an 'image' of it taught.
And this for some,
Becomes...
Traumatically dramatic!
Civil and belligerent,
The unrest is.
Protesters defiant against,
A truth revealed...
Feel they have been betrayed.
And...
This they have.
By a propaganda marketed.
Marketed sold to sell and well.
Deluding lives,
With lies to fiction truth.
Incredibly for centuries,
To have been deceived.

'We will fight until we get,
What belongs to us back! '

'That's just one of many issues,
We all are faced to confront.
You see...
Your caves have been,
Long replaced.
By outrageously high priced,
Condos.
No one today,
Can rent or pay for the view.
And those weapons you use,
To protect...
And defend yourselves?
Against what or who?
A diversity?
A diversity you've been taught,
Has nothing to do...
With your dependency?
On other ethnicities?
And...
You have been made,
Convinced to believe...
Your destroying this.
And your quality of life,
Teaches a lesson?
To who? '

'So what!
If we have the freedom.
And those entitlements given,
To honor 'our' ancestors!
This is our choice to make.
And obviously,
Not yours to interfere...
With our choices to make.
Or decisions we choose.'

'Tell me this...'

'Tell you what? '

'How stupid can stupidity get? '

Issues like these,
Sought to erase...
From the minds groomed,
And nourished...
In isolated environments.
Is going to take time.
Time many will find today,
They have not been blessed...
With that to get given!
