It had been long, long years
When I admit to myself the words that I can't say.
Because the words are forbidden I kept it all in.
No matter what I'm not going to pour it out
For as long as my bleeding heart allows it to stay shut
It had been long, long days that I wished to be free
My waking hours are filled by the hope that it can be you and me
But as the night began to cast its blanket of the dark
I always find myself dreaming for another day
Another hope that my dreams will leave its mark
It had been long, long hours that I prayed
Prayers left unanswered for the longest of time.
Prayers that are thrust in the back of my mind
And there it will remain for whole eternity
Because there is no way it can be you and me.
