It's A Boy Girl Thing Poem by Lisbeth Sebastian

It's A Boy Girl Thing

Rating: 5.0

I was known as the boy of the school
Until the time I graduated high school.
They were proud to have a boy in school
As ours was a girl's high school.
Though my hair was bobbed,
Though I was arrogant and tough,
I was loved by teachers and colleagues.
And I loved them from the bottom of my heart
It was hard to part with them.
I sounded like a boy and
They gave me chores only boys could do.
I was happy to be what I was,
Though I loved being a girl.
My only grief those days was
That I couldn't sing like my friend.

When I went for camps
Real boys hugged me by mistake.
It was funny to see them blushing,
When I said, "excuse me brother'' and they withdrew their hands.

But soon after 15,
My mom insisted on seeing a girl in me.
It took me more than 5 irritating months
To grow my hair a fair few inches.
And slowly, unnoticeably, my sound,
Oh I acquired a girlish sound
(According to my parents and friends) .
After a long time, the school planned a reunion.
And oh my! What a fuss they made over me.
They said they didn't know I was such a beauty.
When I was a boy, they said
That I could never look like a girl;
But "now, you are a beaut my girl'', says my teacher.
You are a girl with rosy cheeks and silken hair.

Though I am delighted with their remarks,
(And totally love being a girl)
I wish I could go back to my old boyish days now and then,
And do the boyish silly things I used to do.
