It Should Be Illegal For Anyone To Be Allowed To Have This Much Fun… Poem by Ted Sheridan

I have lowered my standards on many things of late because
the high cost of fueling my car has taken a bite out of fueling me.
My passions needed prioritizing as did my budget,
because of my financial plight. I will drink less rum
and buy the cheaper brands; imported now means
I pretend I live overseas and they ship my rum from the States.
It’s not hard to tell the difference between the good stuff
distilled and bottled in Barbados and the crap
some bootleg pirate adds tap water to, in his Baltimore basement…
But I try. And the same holds true for beer. No longer do I buy
the German brews; I guzzle the 45 malt liquor right from the can,
like a real American.
And so much for steaks, give me a hotdog on a bun…
It should be illegal for anyone to be allowed to have this much fun…
